Here at DesignSpark, it fills us with cheer when we receive news of our software being put to good use, so it was great to hear from our old friend Alistair from ALD Print. Just over a year ago, Alistair told us all about how he cleverly used DesignSpark Mechanical to create a replica scaled model of an old Yorkshire Engine Co. Class 02 Loco, produce an STL file, and then 3D print it using one of his 3D printers.
Here it is in action in the snow!
Amongst his other business ventures, Alistair offers a series of 3D printed locomotive kits for the avid locomotive enthusiast to build and enjoy, all designed using DesignSpark Mechanical! See what’s on offer and learn more about ALD Models here.
3D Designs that ooze quality
Alistair uses a variety of printers for the creation of his unique superb quality locomotive model kits, the Ultimaker 2+ (918-8695) is his primary 3D printer but he also makes use of the Form2 and the latest addition to his 3D printing family, the Anycubic Photon.
The quality of the 3D printing is simply outstanding, as you can see, and a solid testament to the 3D printers and design software that Alistair is using. It certainly gives impetus to the model makers out there who have been searching for a way of recreating their favourite vehicles in miniature.
We’d like to thank Alistair for keeping us informed of his creations with DesignSpark Mechanical and we wish him all the best with his growing series of brilliant locomotive kits. We can’t wait to see what he creates next!
