How to Charge a Battery Safely Using Smart Power Selector Technology

In USB adapter power charging applications, a decision must be made either to connect the charge circuitry directly to the battery in system load or to add a switch to disconnect the battery from the system load when external power is applied. While a direct connection architecture is the simplest approach, issues can arise if the battery is deeply discharged. In this case, a system may not be able to boot until the battery recharges to a certain level.

Maxim Integrated's Smart Power Selector™ technology allows system power to be maintained, even while charging a battery in a deeply discharged state.

In this video, you will learn about the JEITA safety standards and how to charge a battery safely using Maxim Integrated's Smart Power Selector™ technology.
