UK television broadcaster Channel 4 is launching a new series this weekend, led by Former Royal Engineer Ant Middleton, which will follow a group of five engineers who are stranded at a 'crash site' in a hostile environment.
Episode 1, Escape from the Desert, will air this Sunday at 20:00 BST and follows five highly-skilled engineers, who are abandoned in a remote desert among the wreckage of a simulated plane crash.
Ex-Special Forces soldier and survival expert Ant Middleton's mission is to keep them alive in the hostile environment, their mission is to design and construct a powered vehicle from the wreckage - and escape.
The engineers, two men and three women, each bring a specific skill set to the team; an aerobatic pilot, a traditional craftsman, an aerospace engineer and two mechanical engineers. At the remote crash site, they don’t have the luxury of a workshop, or even proper tools, to repurpose the wreckage. Day after day the searing desert heat takes its toll and with food and water in short supply Ant must motivate a physically and emotionally exhausted team to engineer their way out of an increasingly critical situation.

I will certainly be tuning in...Â
