Body operations failing or slow ? - Tips to fix the problem - Check geometry!

The Split body command wasn't working on this complex body - Why?

Body fails to be split:

Note the existing objects in the Structure browser:

Check Geometry !

Refer to the following 2 gif below:

In fixing the geometry by deletion of a face and the Filling of small edges of approximate length 0.007mm, new surfaces and solids have appeared in the Structure browser !?

The problem if not using Components:

A problem with using bodies that aren't owned by components, is that the design file is not divided with 'ownerships' or a heirachy of objects the so called, Parent Child relationships. All created objects are therefore placed or owned directly under the Root Document . Newly created objects, Surfaces or Solid bodies are added to the list bottom and may not be seen by the user if the Structure Browser is very long.

The Solid can now be split

TIP > Cut the body into a new file or Move the body into a New Component.

Reduce the Structure browser reporting to show just the problem body - Cut the body into a new file or Move the body into a New Component. Any additional faces or hiding Internal bodies created from Internal faces forming a boundary body will immediately be shown and noticed !

The additional surfaces or bodies created from repairs are now owned by the new file or new component.

Method 1> Cut to new file - shown below: Note the body is pasted into the exact same position and orientation. It can be repaired, then cut and pasted back into the original file also in the exact same position!

New objects being owned in the new file

Method 2> Move Body to a New Component > Open Component: (Shown below)

The additional newly created Objects can now be easily observed.

The Body can now be split. The recommendation is for both bodies to remain in the component 'Solid'
