Ask the Expert - Products for Robotic Control

by GreigRS

Robotic production lines are commonplace when we think of heavy industry, but with the rise of Cobots, and pick and place robotics, the application possibilities have never been greater. Today we are talking to Infineon and will explore a few of the technologies that industrial robotics rely on.

Robots must interact and react to their environment to automate work and deliver precision and control. To do this a robot much like a human, needs both muscle and sensing capability. When it comes to robots these are delivered in the form of motor and sensor technologies.

To explore this technology, we have Andreas Hoffmann Infineons' system architect for industrial drives.

See the Infineon Reference Design that Andreas mentioned in the interview.

DesignSpark Circuit Simulator allows you to test and design, this link features a reference design for an Infineon 800V industrial motor drive.

More on Robotics from Infineon can be found here.

RS stocks a large range from Infineon, simply search Infineon, but first, see our featured products below, including the EVAL-M1-101T Evaluation board (248-9731) , for use with the iMOTION™ MADK inverter boards.

For more information on Servo Motor and Drive Integration, read the review on a first look at the Infineon Reference Design REF-DR3KIMBGSIC2MA.
