Arbitrary function generators – your results are only as good as the test signalFollow article
Whether you’re designing, testing or troubleshooting, your results are only as good as the signals driving the device under test.
The TGF3000 series of arbitrary function generators from Aim-TTi offers class-leading performance with a frequency capability of up to 160MHz and a full set of built-in waveforms. With the ability to create and upload complex waveforms designed on a PC, signals from devices such as sensors can be replicated/modified and injected into the device under test to simulate inputs from the real-world on a test bench
The TGF3000 series has all the features you would expect of an arbitrary function generator, with two channels that can be operated completely independently, but with the following key features, that makes this series stand out:
Higher frequencies with exceptional frequency precision and quality
This series out-performs other generators in its price range, by offering sine waves up to 160MHz and square waves up to 50MHz, but with precise frequency control of one micro hertz resolution (15 digits) and generating high purity sine waves with low harmonic distortion with low phase noise.
Custom arbitrary waveforms
Arbitrary waveforms of 16 bit vertical resolution can be defined, with basic waveform creation and editing built directly into the generator, but for more complex waveforms software is provided, where the waveform can be uploaded via a flash drive to the USB port or through the digital interfaces.
Wideband noise generator
The generator noise function provides wideband gaussian noise at bandwidths up to 100MHz, which can be used both as a carrier waveform and as a modulating waveform for AM, FM, PM, PWM and SUM modulation types. As a carrier it can be AM, ASK or SUM modulated.
High resolution pulse generator
Offers an exceptionally high pulse width resolution of 100ps over a period range from 50ns to 1000s, with the edge speed being fully variable from 10ns to 1ms and the pulse jitter is much lower than any comparable generator at only 30ps.
With a frequency range of 0.1Hz to 125MHz, the counter function can measure external signals in terms of frequency, period, pulse width or duty cycle.
PRBS & Harmonics generator – TGF3162 Only
PRBS (Pseudo-Random Bit Sequence) is a binary waveform type that is widely used within secure communications systems and offers a choice of 8 sequence lengths at rates between 1mbps and 50Mbps that can be used as both a carrier waveform and a modulation.
The harmonics generator enables waveform to be created by the addition of sine wave harmonics, where up to 16 harmonics can be used with the amplitude and phase can be individually set for each harmonic.
