How to separate, move, and rotate section of model

Hello All,

I'm fairly new to designing my own CAD models. I'm looking to seperate a section of my model and then move/rotate it around and then reattach it.

I tried the using "split/Split Body", as well as "Detach" but neither got me the result I was expecting.

Section to be moved:

Sorry, bit late to the party...
I'm with Jlab03 - use the 'saw' tool on a face making sure the only option selected is 'Extend Faces' first. You'll need 2 saw cuts, this cutting the solid into 4 pieces. Use key 'I' or Combine icon the join back the split solids.
Small option on using Split Body tool. Instead of continuing with the original solid (now in 2 pieces), for the second cut change, the cut object to one of the new pieces, now results in a total of 3 and not 4 pieces.
Not your case, but if wanting just to slice of a 3D region, tick option 'Merge when done'. Divide up , delete regions not required using rubber delete tool, then click select new command or click empty screen area - sub solids all merge - lovely...

One extra tip. At this specific case you don't even need to add a plan to cut you section. For a "saw" tool you use/click on the flat surface your section is attached at the beginning. This will be the cutting plane.

I notice in your 'Structure tree' there is only one Solid and Curves.
Delete the Curves. Place a 'Plane' on the face you want to cut. Use this with the 'Combine - Cut' tool. using the Plane as the cutter. see attachment.
Do the same again, until the part you want is separate. You may have to 'Combine - Join' parts together again. Then use the 'Move' tool. Pick the direction arrow and move.

So I was able to get a copy via copy/paste, but I got it moved and rotated. But It's now a "surface" instead of a solid. Also I still need to remove the existing section still attached on the model.

@firex726 Did you select your solid on your sketch with the cursor instead at the design tree? If so you get a surface. You have to select the solid to be moved, rotated by clicking it at the design tree. If you can' t find it on the tree, just right click on the sketch (where the solid is) and use the "locate" command to find it on the tree. Then select it there to move.
