How to design a tracking robot – Part 1

The 2016-2017 Electronic Product Design Competition has started!

This competition is a student activity involving the University partner programme between City University and RS Components.

Similar to last year, students will have to learn how to design a circuit that requires them to follow a line with a tracking robot in semester A. The robot will have to be designed and enabled by DesignSpark PCB. The difference this year is that they also need to design a case or enclosure for the robot using DesignSpark Mechanical and print it out using a 3D printer.

In the warm-up exercises, students had to test their robots by navigating it on an “8” track to test the manoeuvrability.

Here is the robot from Group 6:

The real challenge will be the competition in Semester B. Stay tuned for more updates from us!

I am an Electronic Engineering student studying in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I am interested in design PCB board.
