Last August, RS supported a Savvify’s #techmums event which introduced a group of willing mums to a whole new world involving python programming, seeing them programme a Raspberry Pi with simple projects designed by DesignSpark Community Manager Pete Wood.

On Sunday 8 June, #techmums, in partnership with RS, Embecosm, Ravensbourne College and BSC Open Source Specialist Group will be introducing more mums to the wonderful world of electronics and programming and this time, to the fun, low-cost computer known as ‘The Shrimp’.

The Shrimp (or Arduino- compatible circuit board) can be built and programmed by just about anyone, irrelevant of any experience, in just a few hours and at this fun and free interactive workshop, mums will learn how easy it is to build a basic Shrimp circuit and write a simple program to make it flash a light – and even add more lights to make some amazing light effects.

The workshop, especially designed for mums, is the brainchild of award-winning computer scientist Dr Sue Black @Dr_Black and will be run by an expert team including #techmums trainers and engineers from Embecosm.

Places for the latest workshop are limited. For more information or to sign up, visit Eventbrite
