Batman's Raspberry Pi Hack, true Internet of Things?

Ok so you got this far, kudos.  We all get a bit of a tizzy on when batman flashes tech across the big screen, or your handheld device, and start thinking “could that happen, how do you make one of those?” and start to lose the plot.  And we have all spent time with a Raspberry Pi or Arduino ( other boards are available) trying to change some basics, but maybe we are looking through the wrong end of the telescope app.

The Internet Of Things is going to be less about the app and more about the real world application, back to Batman, great,  the car can see if the dark, and uses a great HUD, but let’s face it, it looks like a future tank and drives like an indestructible race car, and that’s the exciter.  No-one is going to un-invent the internet anytime soon, but my guess is more of the next generation will become engineers because of the Avengers logo being stamped on a device, than by hearing a geek did some software.

titleSo what’s the point? Ok, ok ,we nearly got there, Batman doesn’t need a Raspberry Pi hack , he has Wayne Enterprises RnD on call 24/7, but he does need those guys who screw the bits together to make something work, and that’s where we are heading dear reader, the Internet Of Things actually gives rise to the development of the Things of the Internet of Things. Remember The Rise Of the Planet of the Apes? Very few people worried about the airborne virus that makes the monkeys smarter, but the application of clever angry chimps got everyone’s attention, they became the embodiment of the Things. It's about what we can get done, and that takes engineers. If we extend that analogy, in the film , the air was the internet, it was the medium of transmission, the viral drug was the software or programme that effected the change, but it was the monkey Things that had the impact.

So what do we want to do?  Make a better ape? Make Bones a CAT scanner ? Build Howard his robot arm ? Yes all this and more, because we stand in a place where each direction leads to change and each light bulb Edison failed to illuminate is a sign that all things are possible if we have the courage to begin.
