The onsemi NCN49597 is an S-FSK modem for reliable low data rate communication over power lines. Numerous applications can be covered including Smart Meters, Security Equipment and Machine to Machine communication where data transfer from remote applications is required.
A high precision analogue front end is combined with a low power ARM Cortex M10 processor. The optimised solution uses a 4800 baud dual channel S-FSK design providing a good balance between speed and reliability. Designed for use in hostile communication environments where very low signal to noise ratio and high interference is common. This communication frequency range covers all CENELEC bands for use in applications including e-metering, home automation and street lighting. The Lower layers of communication protocols are managed on chip speeding up the development process as only the higher application layers need to be managed. Firmware solutions are available for different applications.
