Republic Polytechnic and RS Components collaborate for DesignSpark event
In June, Republic Polytechnic – RS University’s first Partner University – ran their first event from the School of Engineering’s Electronic Product Design Lab in collaboration with RS Components. The event was an open workshop to introduce both educational institutions and commercial companies to both DesignSpark PCB and DesignSpark Mechanical. The event saw more than 30 industry attendees from over 20 companies and prestigious educational institutions including the Singapore University of Technology and Ngee Ann Polytechnic attend.
The workshop gave a training session on using DesignSpark PCB and an introduction to newly launched DesignSpark Mechanical; showing off both tools features and getting users up to speed with using the powerful, free software. RS Components also had a booth setup to showcase their latest range of 3D printers which will soon be launched and made available to Republic Polytechnic’s faculty and students in the Electronic Product Design Lab, giving the university the opportunity to show the complete electronic design experience from start to finish.
Refreshments were available for all at the event and a lucky draw, sponsored by RS Components, saw some attendees win some popular developments kits from Raspberry Pi. This is one of the many events that Republic Polytechnic and RS Components will collaborate through the partnership. Attendees were also introduced to the other design resources available from RS Components, including RS Toolbox; the latest free app providing educators and students with electronic reference tools at the touch of a button.
The event ended with many more institutions aware of the power of the DesignSpark tools freely available and the level of support that comes with each tool. See more pictures of the event below and be sure to register with RS University to stay up to date with all future events.
