Handy tips for deploying an Ethernet Strategy

Considering employing an Ethernet Strategy within your network but are not quite sure on how to take the first steps, then this is for you.

With the advent of IoT in manufacturing, industrial processes are being constantly monitored for efficiencies, status data and asset management. Smart manufacturing relies on intelligent sensors and machines being able to deliver data across networks, such as cloud computing. This where Industrial Ethernet comes in, Ethernet is extensively employed across automation processes, and is the backbone of many systems due to its bandwidth capacity and reliability in data delivery.

In the video we hear Dave Sutton from Schneider Electric explain all you need to know about Ethernet in simple terms. Dave uses a road system analogy which takes you through the key considerations of, main nodes, likely data volumes, security, how to access data, analytics and data management.

With many manufacturers offering Ethernet control on field devices and smart machines, now is the right time to consider an Ethernet strategy. Taking data from the plant floor to the control hub offers so many benefits including improved production efficiency, improved performance and greater levels of asset management.
