Over January and February, RS University held two DesignSpark PCB workshops in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) for secondary school students who participated in ROV competition and Engineering students in HKUST.
On 24th January, 70 students and teachers from secondary schools in Hong Kong joined our DesignSpark PCB workshop at HKUST . Full of kids who are keen on learning how to design a PCB by themselves!
We taught them how to design an Arduino motor shield for their Arduino projects. DesignSpark PCB is an easy-to-use PCB design software. Even secondary school students can follow the instructions and use DesignSpark PCB to design their own schematic and PCB layout.
On 3rd February, we went to HKUST to organise another DesignSpark PCB workshop. But the target this time is engineering students at HKUST! Not only electronic students, but also students from Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Logistics Management and Computer Engineering are interested to learn how to design a PCB using DesignSpark PCB.
They learnt how to place components and add connections in the schematic design. Then translated the schematic into PCB layout.
They also learnt how is a PCB look like, how to do routing and design rule check. At last, they had a try on using the BOM quote and PCB quote functions to experience the rapid prototyping process within DesignSpark PCB. Â
The workshops ended with a demonstration of DesignSpark Mechanical to import the PCB design and build a case for their PCB, so that students can understand more on the whole process of product design.
